Program Highlights
Optimizing Billing Practices with Tony Messana,  St. Joseph’s Hospital, Orange, CA
Follow the dollar from treatment to reimbursement.  Look for weaknesses in charge capturing through insuring the proper reimbursement.  Bring your questions for a group discussion on how others achieve optimized revenue streams.

Expense Management with Dan Nye, Community Dialysis Units, LLC
This presentation will focus on identifying and managing expenses such as labor, supplies, overhead, routine and non-routine laboratories and pharmacy.  Cost per treatment of in-center, nocturnal and home dialysis will also be covered.

Conditions for Coverage - What Keeps Me Up at Night?  With Katrina Russell,  Dialysis Consulting Group, Seattle, WA
This presentation will identify changes that will impact the day to day operations of your dialysis facility when the Conditions for Participation are released.  What are the changes that you and your staff will have to make to maintain compliance with the new regulations.  Please join us as we help you put the puzzle pieces together for the new Conditions of Participation.

AAMI RD52 and Its Impact on Hemodialysis Practice with Danillo Concepcion, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Orange, CA
The current CMS Condition for Coverage references ANSI/AAMI RD5:1992: Hemodialysis Systems for the technological standards for the dialysis community. In 1996, during the five-year review or RD5, the AAMI Renal Disease and Detoxification Committee determined that the hemodialysis community would be better served by this standard if it were divided into three parts (1) hemodialysis systems, (2) water, and (3) equipment. Since then, technological changes and advancements have resulted in five standards and recommended practices.  In this session you will learn about those five recommendations ~ RD62:2000: Concentrates for hemodialysis, RD47:2002:Reuse of hemodialyzer, RD5:2003: Hemodialysis systems, RD52:2004: Dial sate for hemodialysis, RD62:2006:Water treatment equipment for hemodialysis applications. RD52: Dialysate for hemodialysis was developed based on the critical role of dialysate quality in providing safe and effective hemodialysis, and the recognition that day-to-day dialysate quality is under the control of the health care professionals who deliver dialysis therapy. RD52 includes significant changes from RD5:1992 and is the proposed reference for the new CMS rules.

Legislative Update with Jerry Klepner and Andie King, BKSH & Associates, Washington, DC
The legislative and regulatory sectors in Washington, D.C. have a big impact on our industry. Jerry Klepner of BKSH & Associates, will present updates on recent developments in our nation’s capital that will definitely continue to challenge managers and administrators of ESRD facilities. They will discuss how each of us can get involved with NRAA and our grassroots efforts and help make a difference for the ESRD industry, ourselves, and the patients we serve.

Hot Topics - Bundling/Changes to Medicare Bill 2008/SNP's/Conditions of Participation Overview of Changes with Marc Chow (Satellite Healthcare, Mountain View, CA), Keith Mentz (Nephrology, Inc, Mishawaka, IN), and Sue Rottura American Renal Associates, Boca Raton, FL)

NRAA wants you to have the most up to the minute information, so we are providing this Hot Topics session.  What does the NRAA see as potential uses with Medicare, Bundling? SNP's? What are the major changes that will impact you when the Conditions of Participation come out?  Have questions on something occurring with your Fiscal Intermediary, or your state survey office? Participants are strongly encouraged to interact with a panel of industry experts to have questions answered, and gain insights into what may be coming down the pipeline that will affect you. It also provides a great opportunity to share your challenges with others from across the nation who value your opinion.
