Facility Tour Toolkit for NRAA Members
The NRAA Facility Tour Toolkit can greatly expand your advocacy efforts. Using the NRAA Facility Tour Toolkit, NRAA Members can learn step-by-step instructions on how to arrange for a Member of Congress to visit your dialysis facility and meet your patients, staff, and community partners. Facility tours are an excellent opportunity to educate your elected officials and candidates for office about the care you provide to a vulnerable patient population and the importance of the Medicare ESRD program. People (on Capitol Hill) are talking - facility tours make a difference!
Read what some Representatives had to say after their dialysis facility tours:
“As co-chair of the Congressional Kidney Caucus it is important to me to educate myself and others about chronic kidney disease. I want to thank this facility for hosting me and allowing me to meet patients and caregivers to understand how being on dialysis greatly affects peoples’ lives.” - Representative Tom Marino (R-PA-10)
“Northern Virginia is home to some of the best dialysis facilities, nurses, and technicians in the country. It is encouraging to see the incredible care these patients are able to get right here in Arlington.” - Representative Don Beyer (D-VA-8)
“A payment cut would result in the closure of dialysis facilities currently delivering high quality services to Medicare’s most vulnerable patient population. Failing to cover the cost of care would reverse significant strides made in improving the quality of care and mortality for dialysis patients. Many veterans depend on dialysis. It’s important that we ensure our veterans continue to have access to dialysis care.” - Representative Paul Cook (R-CA-8)
“Kidney failure is a growing epidemic not only here in Maryland, but on a national level as well. It’s important that we learn how to avoid the chronic health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity that lead to kidney failure, and also ensure current patients have access to only the best care. I commend the doctors and nurses at this facility for the exceptional work they are doing.” - Representative Steny Hoyer (D-MD-5)
“I enjoyed touring its state-of-the-art facility and meeting with the professional team. As a cosponsor of the Chronic Kidney Disease Improvement in Research and Treatment Act I am working in Congress to ensure my constituents and all Americans with kidney failure continue to have access to the important services they need. I was pleased to learn more about these services during my tour.” - Representative Leonard Lance (R-NJ-7)
